REVIEW

First Thoughts

This succubus of a book hooked me on the bandwagon and I was happy to take a ride on this roller coaster of thrills and chills, I mean what more could you ask for a book about suspense of a woman that sounds like she’s losing her mind while playing not only the role of herself but also the role of her character with the lines blurring in between an affair; a murder; and two crazy women each trying to cover up their own tracks. So I was a little excited and after reading “Final Girls” I was ready for a GOOD suspense/thriller book, or at least a good book in general

Well, once again, I have been pushed off a cliff of high hopes into the sea of killed dreams as this book is no longer a book of suspense and thrills and chills unless you find going on a company trip to be just so darn thrilling, (Can you feel my sarcasm radiating off the page as you read this) because so far that all you get at the half way mark in this book. Instead of a book of suspense that makes me cling to every word, or every anything psychologically compelling, I get a book about a infertile woman going through treatments to try and have a baby with a husband who wants nothing to do with her like at all. So from this point you can see me anger and annoyance with this book.

Final Thoughts

This has a sweet but bitter taste to it, I feel like you must suffer through the first part of the book with all the bitterness you can withstand in one sitting with out trying to make a face or spit it out then once you make it to part two of the book you are taken back by this weird sweetness that has now some how fought it’s way out of that hard shell of bitterness and disgust, but the two flavors are still mixing together and your not quite sure if you like the way the bitterness tingles in your cheeks or the way the sweetness coats your tongue. So you keep the candy in your mouth trying to decipher whether or not you hate or like this candy, while the third part of this book has busted into your mouth like a water balloon popping because there was too much water inside and then all you taste is sweetness but its just way too sweet now so you spit it out.

I feel like what I just said is pretty much the whole book right there. Part one is a let down in which you have to force you eye to stay on the page while you read about fertility treatments, which they do play a part in the book but I don’t need every little detail.  The second part we get a hint of the lie and mystery that takes place in this book but it is still mostly more flirting and baby chasing. Then you make it to the third part the mood that was once a boring housewife sobbing out all her problems has switched into a woman in a straight jacket arguing back and forth with herself in the constant struggle of murderer of victim and you must now put together broken pieces that don’t fit.

I really feel like this book was a waste of my time I could have spent reading a better book. The characters in here are so boring and just have no feel to them at all, Liza only cries and begs for attention from her husband but then goes quite as a mouse when he tells her no, I have only seen her show two emotions throughout this whole book sadness and anger. You get a little back ground on her at the end but the background you get is context clued that you can put two and two together and already know long before being told. Nick is just a guy who is rude to his wife then depressed, that is it for him you get nothing else on the matter except he is from Texas and is a lawyer.

I think that the women in this book are more crazy then how most women would act. I mean I can say that if my husband cheated on me I would not just go out and kill the other lover, I would confront him and either kick him out and or move out and do my best to move on, divorce is very common now a days and since she mentions the Manhattan bombing you know this book is pretty recent. I think if pushed back into a different time period then maybe this book theme might work well but I just think it was a waste of time.

The psychological suspense I was meant to experience never came to me, maybe because I suffered though the book so much that I was done by the end or maybe because I already knew what the Author was going to pull when it take take to pop the magic trick. I will never read this book again.

Review

First Thoughts

In the first few chapters of reading this book I keep trying to hear the voice of mystery soaked in terror, but so far I’ll I’m getting in just mystery laced with anger, lots of anger. While I’m reading this I’m hoping it turns out to be the book I am hoping it is. I signed up for a book full of thrills and chills, a horror book to kick off the soon to be month on Halloween. I am currently dissapointed in the way things are playing out so far the book is mostly about Sam being a complete and total rude bitch, who only wants to make Quincy mad, which Quincy let her make her mad and ends up going like totally insane.

The characters so far are not even worth investing the time into. Sam is just a pushy manipulating bitch who just wants to make Quincy”s life hell. Quincy is a total push over and does whatever Sam tells her to do and refuses to take anyone else’s advice on the matter.

Final Thoughts

Well can I just say what a let down this book was for me. I was pumped for a book full of mystery and horror ready to dI’ve deep into this book and forever be scared by this book in a wonderful way but instead I am left with a scar of dissapointment. The parts where the book flashed back to pine cottage were only a 1 on the horror scale like some people got killed that was is no drama no dramatic build up just stabbing and dead then done. The characters in the book I still do not like or care about any of them because the girls are just stereotypical horror story girls where they make dumb choices and let people push them around and tell them what to do.

The ending of the book was the best part of the entire thing the plot was bland and boring and left me nothing to get hyped for, the only thing that remotely got my interstate was what did Sam what and why was she being such a bitch. The ending was something that you might not see coming but the build of to it was exactly what you think will happen.

All in all if you want a book about drama and girls cat fighting with each other and a small bit of mystery lost in a hay stack.

Summary

Soon the unthinkable happens: She finds she doesn’t exactly hate the gruff, sarcastic boy she was born to loathe. And she must decide whether it’s finally time for her and all of the O’Donnells before her to let go.

Review

First Thoughts

I have literally been avoiding this book for the longest time, I kept saying I’ll read it later, then later came and I just really did not want to read with book it just seemed so boring when I started it. A book that takes place in a small town with two fighting families just seems like a ton of drama and ANOTHER remake of Romeo and Juliet and I think there are enough of those. Now I started with book like someone was forcing me to eat a food I hate, there was a step dad and mother with half brother, the best friend who has a crush on the guy June is not supposed to be around and the same guy who she runs into as fate would have it. Then things start to take a twist and I start to hate it less and less as the story starts to expand and you are introduced to a new world of lies and love all mixed in together.

The character are some that I think we see very often a misunderstood, a sweet shy girl, and two loud best friends, and normal parents and siblings to wrap it all together. So far I think the best friends I way way to cliche with them being loud, funny, and forcing the main character to be dragged along by them, but always there to back you up. I think I have a small connection to June but at the same time I think half the things that run through her mind are total crap. So far it looks promising.

Final Thoughts

This book started out in a way where I never wanted to read it but as the story develops the tone goes from one of a storyteller talking about two families drama into a voice of eire passion lace with sadness and love. The Author takes a step into the pages and pours her soul into it and we get to see it to feel everything the characters feel, the characters become so much more than just a shy girl and a troubled boy, they become a broken girl who is trying to find out what she wants in life and if everything she ever believed in was a lie, like her heart that was full of black and white has been shown color but the color is all red with blood and lies. The boy is just a boy who was on the wrong side of a bad decision and fate took its place and left him with the remains of the damage it had caused. These two characters I have wrapped my heart around and fell in love with both of them because I am like both of them in a way and I cannot help but to feel for both of them.

The ending of this book and the power of the story it holds in itself is one I think many can relate to and the truth about memories and the lies they hold within them, how things from the different point of views can be so completely different from the truth and how such hate can thrive from such sweet sorrow. I know the struggle of sweet June trying to hold onto someone you have lost and wishing with all your heart you can go back to them or bring them back to you but you also know they wouldn’t want that for you and you must try to be strong and more on. This book has brought me such much pain and love, in this one book, I found my Million Junes, and I think that you will too.

The New Reviews

Since I LOVE HALLOWEEN and it is almost that time I think we will try and kick it off with some horror, thrills, and suspense. Except for the first book because I need to get it out of the way and stop pushing it away  >.<

For as long as “June” O’Donnell has been alive, her parents have had only one rule: stay away from the Angert family. But when June collides quite literally with Saul Angert, sparks fly, and everything June has known is thrown into chaos. Why has June an O’Donnell to her core never questioned her late father’s deep hatred of the Angert family? After all, the O’Donnells and the Angerts may have mythic legacies, but for all the tall tales they weave, both founding families are tight-lipped about what caused the century-old rift between them. Now June must question everything she knows about her family and the father she adored, and she must decide whether it’s finally time for her—and all the O’Donnells before her—to let go

Review

First thoughts

This book already has a hold on me that I find myself unable to put it down, I have literally been spending every free moment of my time trying to finish this book and even when at work I force myself to mop and read at the same time (I do not recommend it because you tend to lose your spot every time you look away), there is just so much going on in this book that I have even been popping out theories left and right wondering if this is the truth the lies behind the fake mask everyone wears.

Dee poor little sweet Dee I have grown fond of her and the others in the group, each one has their own past and secrets, the first thing I loved about this book was you know when a character gets thrown in and they are like how did you end up here and they just tell you how, well this book does that but we also get the flashback and in their perspective, what was running through their mind at the time they gave their hearts away. The characters are some I give a chance to like a dog letting someone pet them but still watching them waiting to bite if harmed, I just feel like they are promising me so much here and I don’t think i’m going to get to see the character grow and develop as much as I want them to. The Deamon is the one i’m dieing to get to know right now he is just being seen to look rude and callous but I think there is something deep down in him that makes him care about his group of kids, I mean if he didn’t he would take an arm or leg and not their hearts just give it back in a few months.

The story keeps me drawn in just when I think i’m getting bored with it I get something new with drama and heartfelt emotion, the writer has put a lot of thought into this story and has tied up a lot of ends about the demons and the way the live and exist and the “otherworldly things” that the team keeps having to battle.

Final Thoughts

I am not sure I can ever gather the words to express my final thoughts of this book, the ending was a total blind side to me and now I’m just sitting here staring at my computer screen left with the remains of my heart this  book has shattered. I wish I could now be heartless to make the pain I feel inside for this book go away because I did not think this book would hit me so hard but it hit me like a truck going 90 to nothing. The characters in this book are ones I did not know I would grow so attached to until the ending  from the broken Dee to the sweet and funny James to the crazy and unyielding Gremma.

I just loved reading this book, I really truly did and I’m really shocked to be speaking these words because I thought the plot was going to fizzle out and it did in a way but in another way it was so much more than anything I thought would ever happen. This book have captured my heart and crushed it but in another way made it fall in love, this book will bring you the “feels” so hard you better bring a box of tissues with you while reading it. The I chose this message is something I think I can hold onto for the rest of mylife, and it will shower a bright loving hope on all of my days because I know that I chose this.

Just like I chose to read this book, I will choose to read it again and I think I can even put it on my shelf of favorites because the impact of this book has just wrecked me so hard. This is a must read!
